About Christina Beasley

Christina Beasley is a writer, photographer, and public servant in Washington, D.C. She serves as poetry editor at Barrelhouse literary magazine and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in writing and literature at the Bennington Writing Seminars. Her work has recently appeared in Copper Nickel, Hobart, Atlanta Review, Split Lip, The Pinch, The Southampton Review, Into the Void, Watershed Review, and other publications. She has done residencies with Virginia Quarterly Review, Atlantic Center for the Arts, and Southern Illinois University. Her poetry manuscript “Strange Animals” was a finalist in the 2019 Crab Orchard Series in Poetry Open Competition and a semi-finalist in the 2019 New Issues First Book Award.

Christina received her master’s degree in Counterterrorism and Substate Violence from Georgetown University magna cum laude and her B.A. in European security studies from the George Washington University summa cum laude. She works for the federal government on international counterterrorism issues and speaks conversational Italian and some French and Spanish.

Christina is a certified mixologist and yoga instructor, as well as a real estate agent licensed in D.C. and Northern Virginia. She volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, serves on her agency’s Women’s Council, and is a workplace advocate on numerous LGBTQ+ and diversity issues. Christina started “Beas Creative” services, which specializes in written and photographic artistic work, in 2015. She also offers design consultations in affiliation with her real estate business. She is affiliated with Long & Foster’s Logan Circle brokerage.
